Manny Costa Inducted into NRA Hall of Fame

Boston, MA - Manny Costa, President of Costa Fruit & Produce, Boston MA, has been inducted into the National Restaurant Association's Hall of Fame. Julia Child (pictured below with Costa) was amongst the five recipients of the Hall of Fame award held in conjunction with the Massachusetts Restaurant Association at a ceremony at Anthony's Pier 4 in Boston, MA. Other inductees to the Hall of Fame included; The Berkowitz Family, founders of Legal Seafood; Terry Vince, President, Sovereign Hotels and Craig Miller, President, Uno Restaurants.

Costa was honored for his contribution to the foodservice and hospitality communities in the areas of education and food safety. These lasting contributions were undertaken during his chairmanship of two national organizations - The International Fresh-cut Produce Association and PRO*ACT, a marketing and procurement collective of independent produce distributors. Costa was also applauded for his efforts to create a deeper understanding of fresh produce as a contributing writer and frequent 'spokesman for the produce industry' in many foodservice educational forums over the years. In his continuing efforts to bring a deeper understanding of produce and food safety to the hospitality industry, Costa presently sits on the main board of the Produce Marketing Association.

In his acceptance speech, Costa thanked the selection committee, his customers and employees for their dedication and their essential role in the accolades bestowed upon him and his company. Costa made special note of the founders of the company - his late father and mother, Ana - for their wisdom, insight and support.
